Big Grove awarded four $8,000 grants to both Polk and Johnson County nonprofits in 2023 as a part of the brewery's philanthropic Big Grove for Good Program. Each year, proceeds from sales are earmarked to be able to give back to causes in our communities where we live, work and play. Our giving tenants focus on the environmental quality of our water, trees and trails, in addition to equity and equality causes and organizations in our backyards.
“Giving back to our communities is central to our mission at Big Grove,” said Mikala Demet, Big Grove’s Iowa City community coordinator. “This year we were honored to receive 40 applications from deserving nonprofits located in Polk County and Johnson County. Our coworkers can volunteer to help select the grant recipients and have the option to volunteer for the selected organizations. Our grant program is an intentional and meaningful process and we look forward to extending the program to Linn County in 2024.”
We are pleased to announce our grant recipients for the 2023 year. Congrats to Ronald McDonald House Charities of Central Iowa, Central Iowa Shelter Services, Iowa City’s Free Lunch Program, and Iowa City Coralville (ICOR) Boxing Club—who all received $8,000. Big Grove will be evaluating grants beginning Tuesday, November 28, 2023, for 2024 grant submissions. Grants will be selected for Johnson, Polk, and Linn Counties.
