Big Grove Brewery & GreenState Credit Union have partnered to brew a Greener State of Mind - a refreshing citrus-forward pale ale with a goal for a greener and cleaner Iowa.

Proceeds will benefit the Iowa Natural Heritage Foundation, a nonprofit protecting and restoring Iowa's land, water, and wildlife.

GreenState Credit Union is Iowa’s largest financial institution and one of the top financial institutions in the country for returning profits to members in the form of better rates and lower fees. In addition to serving its members, GreenState exists to serve the local community as well. As they grow, so does their charitable giving.

Protecting and restoring Iowa’s land, water and wildlife. Iowa Natural Heritage Foundation helped protect over 190,000 acres of Iowa prairies, woodlands, lakes and rivers and blazed the way for Iowa’s trails.

In partnership with Polk County Conservation and the Brenton Family, INHF has purchased 1,113 acres located in Polk and Dallas counties commonly called the Brenton Slough. In an area undergoing rapid change and growth, conservation of properties with existing quality wildlife habitat, especially such a large parcel, is a rare opportunity.

With the purchase and eventual transfer to Polk County Conservation, the land will continue to attract bird enthusiasts and other nature lovers in perpetuity. It will serve as a quiet place to escape, a field trip venue and maybe even a scenic route to ride or walk between Granger and Grimes.

Big Grove for Good

Giving back to our local community is central to our mission at Big Grove Brewery. We strive to be intentional with our “good giving” and have committed the majority of our charitable efforts to focus on three core categories -- Trees, Trails, & Water: The work to enhance our recreational green spaces, benefiting both our health and well-being and reviving our environment. Equity & Equality: Working towards a diverse and equitable community while being a good human to other humans. Our Backyard: Supporting local organizations that work to make our Johnson County community a better place to live, thrive, and have opportunity.
